- An individual's personality and the situation they are in will attribute to their behavior.
- The person-situation controversy focuses on whether or not behavior is caused more by personality or by the situation a person is in.
- Walter Mischel believed that a person's measured personality traits cannot always predict their behavior. He also believed that knowing how a person will behave given a certain situation does not mean they will behave the same in another situation.
- As later studies have been done it has been found that personality consistency depends on where and when a specific behavior is shown, it is based on how a person interprets a situation and how a goal is pursued.
